The digital environment has established itself as a source of revenue and advertising opportunity for online businesses and services. The different channels whereby musical works have been used and exploited digitally include: digital downloads of full-track songs; on-demand streaming; mobile ringing tones; and internet radio stations.
The Copyright Act of Singapore imposes certain obligations regarding the use, exploitation, transmission and communication of musical works in the On-Line and Mobile Delivery environments. With the continuous evolution of the Internet and the rapid growth of such services, the New Media Department of COMPASS has been developed to manage the copyrights in the digital world.
It is a requisite for content providers, operators and online music users to seek approval and obtain a Licence from us.
