SCHOOYARD ASSEMBLY
SERIES: SUMMARY
|
It was an enjoyable and eye-opening experience for us as we
concluded our Schoolyard Songwriting Workshop Series on the 20th
of Oct 2015 at Swiss Cottage Secondary School. It was a pilot project
for us this year to plant the seed of songwriting in Secondary Schools.
We visited a total of 11 schools with encouraging responses from
teachers and students for more of such sessions in 2016.
It was a joy to be surrounded by such inquisitive minds as
we conducted a workshop on basics of songwriting and had activities involving
local songs. The camaraderie between students and teachers was evident
when we invited teachers/students up on stage to sing local songs
during a segment of our session.
A snippet of the workshops we conducted is available on our
Youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohJ5Ao57trw

COLLABORATION WITH THE
YELLOW RIBBON PROJECT
|
I n our third year
of collaboration with the Yellow Ribbon Project on the Yellow Ribbon
Songwriting Competition 2015 led by COMPASS, it was extremely
gratifying to note an improvement in the quality of songs being
submitted for the competition as compared to previous years.
Participants attended masterclasses and were mentored by
Songwriter/Artiste/Producer Nicodemus Lee in Changi Prison before
competing in the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals from March 2015.
The finale was held in Changi Prison on 16th June
2015 with Speaker of Parliament, Madam Halimah
Yacob as our Guest-of-Honour along with
various VIPs from Changi Prison and major media agencies, in support of
the program. Families of participants were also invited to enjoy the hour-long
competition/ performance. Judges for the different rounds of
competition this year included Daphne Khoo, Don Richmond, Jack Ho, Amir
Masoh, Danny Loong and Lucas Chow.
Eight songs have been recorded into an album entitled My
Imperfections, proudly produced by COMPASS. The songs are personal life
stories, expressing regrets for past choices and hopes for acceptance
in the future. We are currently in the final stages of album
production. Album sales will be fully donated to the Yellow Ribbon
Fund, of which more enrichment programs can be created.
We will be assisting in the sales of the album at our office
and it is also available at the Yellow Ribbon Project. More details
will be released soon on our Facebook. Do support the efforts of these
new songwriters! ¡Þ

ELECTRONIC PAYMENT vs
TRADITIONAL CHEQUES
|
In order to reduce the stress
and loss of post-mailed cheques, royalty
payments from 2015 will be made via interbank transfer (where
possible).
Hence, we will be progressively updating member
records so that eventually, there will no longer be a need for members
to receive their royalty cheques in the mail
and then find the time to deposit the physical cheque
into their bank account.
Members who wish to update their bank details, may
do so by downloading the form HERE ¡Þ
