SG:SW 2017我写我的歌FINALE CONCERT

We were honoured to have Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Sim Ann attend the SG:SW 2017 as our Guest-of-Honour.

SG:SW 2017 aimed to create a continued interest in the next generation of local Mandarin songwriters and the effort was hugely rewarded with a total entry of 428 new melodies. The camaraderie which it stirred amongst songwriters young and old were caught on social media channels and the finale ended on a high note with winners in five categories and Ms Sim Ann as the Guest-Of-Honour having many praises for the event.

20 HITS IN 10 HOURS

Following the success of 20 Hits in 10 Hours last year, Funkie Monkies set out to look for the next hit maker again and COMPASS is pleased to play a small role in supporting the camp. Last year's participants have already published songs with Andy Lau, Stephanie Sun and other artistes in Taiwan and China.

20 Hits in 10 Hours, local songwriting camp open to the public, was held on 9th December from 9am-9pm at ITE College Central and the Music Conference on 10th December at *Scape’s Ground Theatre. The competition consisted participants who were segregated into smaller groups with a mentor assigned. The mentors are veterans and renowned professionals in the different fields of music.

First day of Funkie Monkies’ Songwriting Camp where demos are presented to a listening party made up of leading producers, hit makers and music publishers after a grueling day of song creation:

A music conference was held at *SCAPE as Day Two of Funkie Monkies' Songwriting camp with specially invited regional music professionals.

Aspiring local songwriters and arrangers came together for the rare experiential sharing and question-answer session. ∞

MONTHLY FEATURE OF LOCAL ACTS

We will be featuring up-and-coming local acts on our website bi-monthly and our very first feature for the month of December is Red November.

Red Nov was born in 2016. The band plays short songs, with clear hooks and catchy choruses. Most songs are originals, about life and love, about fun and about sadness. The genre moves between rock and pop, with some funk influences.

ELECTRONIC PAYMENT vs TRADITIONAL CHEQUES

In order to reduce the stress and loss of post-mailed cheques, royalty payments from 2015 will be made via interbank transfer (where possible).

Hence, we will be progressively updating member records so that eventually, there will no longer be a need for members to receive their royalty cheques in the mail and then find the time to deposit the physical cheque into their bank account.

Members who wish to update their bank details, may do so by contacting the Membership Department at: membership@compass.org.sg.

COMPASS MEMBER AUDIO FILES

In order to improve our administration processes and accuracy, we are embarking on an ongoing exercise to collate members’ work registrations, by also requesting for a copy of the work in either original CD or as an audio MP3 files. For unpublished works, good quality demo CDs / MP3 files are also acceptable.
